BUILDS 777 MODELS ONE OF WHICH ISTHE LARGE STEAM SHOVEL

My research indicates that there were only two years when this No. 7 could build 777 models. In 1928 it could build 719 models and in 1931 it could build 1350 models. This erector set is in a red painted wooden box with the corners painted black. There is a metal tray inside the same size as the inside of the box. Metal trays were added in boxes in 1928 and the red painted box appeared for the No. 7 in 1929.

The red box shows light play and/or storage wear. The factoryglued two pieces of woodtogether horizontally to make the back and bottom. There are small cracks ( 1-on theback and 1 on the bottom)along these glue linesbecausethe glue has dried out and hardenedoverthe last 83 or 84 years. The top of the box is made of plywood and it and the front and both sides are in great condition with a few nicks and scratches. The corners of the box are of dove tail construction. All brass hardwareare in good condition andpresent including indented handles, hinges, lid stop/support and latches. The outside decalhas some scratches and wear but is probably 95%.The inside decal has a couple of nicks but is almost 100%. There is a light white over spray on the inside top, may have come from the factory this way but I\'m not sure.

The NO. 7 (BUILDS 777 MODELS) manual of instruction is in great condition. There are no loose or missing pages, no rips or tears, no water spots orgrease spots. There is some light scuffing on the front and back and10 pages of turned up corners in the lower right hand corner. The manual was copyrighted in 1929 and is form M999-28. The manual has 70 pages not counting thecover or back.

The inside tray is black with at least 98% of the original paint but is dirty with nicks and scratches. It fits in the box with flanged edges which go over the edges of the box sides.

My wife and I sorted and inventoried the individual parts. I have no idea of the part count whenit came from thefactory but our inventory includes256 parts not including all the bolts, washers, nuts and cotter pins.We categorized 56 individual types of parts. There is basicly no rust on any of these but I may haveoverlooked some. The main parts (butnot all)included are 2- P58 motors, boiler, boiler top, 3 smoke stacks, 2 pieces which make the cab top, 4 red wheels, 31- 10\" girders, 37 -smaller or curved girders, 1 - digger scoop (which looks unused), 2 -worm gears,10- various other gears, 10 - different pulleys, 2 - red signal arms, 15 various lengths of 3/16\" rods, 25 -various hole strips, 2 -pieces of ladder chain, 1 -small wrench (bent), 11-base plates-some are red - some black - some small - some large, 2 - cranks, 1 -large hook, and 3 - small hooks. I think that is enough here but if you are interested in the full inventory, let me know and I will email it to you. These parts are in very good condition but some may be dirty. The boiler lacks the scratches that I would expectif it had beenbolted together as do other parts, the digger scoop looks unused and 1 -10\"and one smaller girder is bent.

I think it is a great example of a NO. 7 erector set!!!
